Tony Greig was essentially South African & Mike Denness was Scottish. I assume you mean captains of England who were not English, as such.... I would like the list of players irespective of nationality, that have captained England
Kepler Wessels captained the South African team in the World cup,1992 which was hosted jointly by Australia and New Zealand. The South African team played eight matches in the tournament winning 5 and losing 3. Thus they ended up with 10 points. Pakistan was the evantual winners of the tournament led by Imran Khan.
England did not play in the final in that year it was between South Africa and New Zealand. England was in the runner up play off and came fourth.
Reginald Erskine Foster (Tip foster) is the only player who had captained England in both test cricket and international football. He captained England in test cricket in 3 matches, all against South Africa in the 1907 test series, winning one and drawing the other two. he captained England in football in one match only, his last one against Wales, which ended in a 0-0 draw.
Hansie Cronje captained South Africa 1999 World Cup Hansie Cronje
Kate Middleton is not South African. She was born in Bucklebury, England and is married to Prince William. They both have a son together.
Dont think there has ever been a black captain of a South African TEST cricket side. But a black South African-born player may have captained a non-test team, or even qualified (by residency) to captain a test side from their adopted country - then, of course, you have to consider WOMEN'S teams, these days ... Good luck hunting! Viv Harding
