The longest professional wrestling match ever (as certified by Guinness, no official record existed before this for modern professional wrestling ) was on January 8th 2011 in Murietta, CA for the Epic War wrestling promotion, between "Rockstar" Cordova (Michael Inman) and "Dangerous J" Jaysin Strife (Nathan Blodgett) in a 7-Hour Ironman Match. Jaysin Strife won the match 14-13 falls. A 1 minute rest period was given after each fall so if you deduct the rest time they wrestled for a total of 6 hours and 33 mins which still beats the disputed record of 6 hours and 30 mins (as well as the well known yet unofficial Lewis/Stecher record of 5 and 1/2 hours) The above answer is in regards to "Professional Wrestling". Addressing wrestling as a whole, professional(fake) and real wrestling, this is still the wrong answer. The longest match in wrestling took place at the 1912 Olympics. The bout between Klein and Asikainen was the longest. It lasted 11 hours and forty minutes. After Klein finally took the victory, he was too tired to compete in the final.

You would have to be more specific as to what type of wrestling (or which federation) you are asking about. Wrestling in general has been around for centuries. Professional Wrestling has been organized since the early 20th century, long before the WWF.
you have great wrestling matches when a rivalry has been building up and it's a long match of hardcore hitting each other and kicking each other,And when there is a lot of blood. that's when you realize it is going to be a close match and it keeps you guessing who is going to win. That's how you have exciting wrestling matches.

A wrestling match has no periods or halves like most sports. However many former companies kept time limits on their matches. Recently a match between AJ Stlyes and Kurt Angle was stopped during a TNA broadcast because the match esceeded the time limit set for the match. Such things have almost never happened in the WWE.
Wrestling never ends
George Washington had the shortest speech, and was 135 words long.
any one can be in professional wrestling as long as u complete wrestling school and get Ur license. angle, lesnar, Benjamin, Haas, Ziegler all am wrestler before joining the pros. even Kane competed in free style wrestling for the summer games in the Olympics
Wrestling has become the way it is because it sells. It has become a form of entertainment rather than the sporting event it at one time was. The recent Olympics showed wrestling in it's pure form and it got the shortest air time of all. Why? because it is boring. So every year you see more and more gross holds and flips than before Why? because they cater to the kids, and teens and the uneducated of southern and middle America, who do not have a very long attention span. Which is why there is no longer a time limit for a match. Today they keep wrestling until they see the people in the seats starting to squirm.
each round is 1:30 long, with a total of three rounds. although if they're tied in points they go into overtime which is 1:00. the first person to score in overtime wins.
