today tens of thousands of people come to participate in the olympic games but back in the ancient times only the villagers of Greece participated in the games
There are 11,028 Athletes in the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympic Games.
they train about 4months and a few days in Olympia but mostly depends on what sport they are taking part in and what time they start training... its very difficult to get an average of a wide range of sports
It is very different depending on the type of athlete. For example, a runner would probably train harder than a soccer player, while a horseback rider would just need to commit time and effort to preparing, rather than training. Some athletes have been known to train for eight or so hours every other day, so that they don't exhaust themselves too much or three hours everyday, for the same reason, maybe less.
(Note for editors: Maybe look for some Q&A for training times from official sites of Olympic athletes and put them down here?)
According to a question put on Yahoo! Answers ("How much training time would you say goes into an olympic athlete?"), someone put down "Years and years for a good athlete, some commit their lives to training." There are other answers regarding this same question and is very interesting to read. This is the link: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080810135650AA8kC8t
Michael Phelps does two four hour practices every day and eats 12,000 calories a day.
The athlete has to arrive at least 10 months in advance. that gives them enough time to train and be the best in the Olympic games.
Well it all depends. Because if you are a good athelete then you don't have to train for so long
they train long and hard for many months to even years.
Well the years beetween the olyimpics ending and starting is when they train
About 2 to 3 years.
Olympic athletes have long since formed an opinion about their equiptment, and their tastes vary widely. However, most athletes wear clothes with "moisture transport" which wicks perspiration from the skin to the air so that you stay drier. This also cuts down on odor.
Yes. At the Olympic's they have speed skating, and where you can either do a short or long program. -Jess
They train either trained for a long time, a normal amount of time or for a sort time. I forgot.
