The average 10 yr old kid throws the ball 45MPH. About 33% of pitchers this age can throw the ball 45-50MPH and about 13% can throw the ball 51-55. About 1 kid in a million can throw the ball 60MPH. If your kid can throw more then 48MPH he is considered above average.

I know a pitcher trains year round for fast pitch softball. There are different drills that they do and most throw at least 100 pitches every day.
well it depends if your a pitcher or if you play the field if your a pitcher a good speed is from 75 to 85 if your a fielder a good pitch speed is from 65 to 75 as long as you got a good changeup to back it up
the average 13 year old throws about 65 to 70 miles an hour. there are some boys that can throw harder though (:

In the end, it's whatever is most comfortable to the pitcher. If it is going to hurt someone (I.E., a catcher isn't as prepared, the pitcher doesn't have good aim, etc) he should not. If the pitcher can and can comfortably without hurting himself, go for it.
In my opinion, 12 year old shouldn't pitch the ball fast. Hard but not fast! In other words, don't hold back but don't strain either. You have plenty of time to develop speed once your body is developed. Concentrate on good fielding and ball contact when batting and your set for huge future in fpsoftball. A glove is 10 times better than a bat or a pitch.
