Pretty useless. The fine points of technique and the opportunity to practice them until they become second nature are what make Martial Arts effective. Also, you may run across a realmartial artist someday, with embarrassing results at best.
I agree with what you say but im a self trained martial artist and i have "won" many fights with what i have learned and practiced by myself. i say it depends on how you train yourself.
