It depends what kind of scoring you are using,
American scoring, (every point counts) and its the first player to 15points. If it gets to 14 all, the player in disadvantage, (not in hand) gets to decide long or short, (to 15 or 17).
Proper Scoring, (win points only on a serve) and its the first player to 9 points. You always have to win by 2 points.
each game is called a set, usually people play "best of 5" which means a player has to win 3 sets to win the match.
