Number one rule is just to stay in good psychical shape.
Make you stretch reguarly, I've pulled quite a few leg muscles and hurt my groin and thigh a fair amount of times which could easily be avoided by stretching.
Practice movements, and leg strength aswell (focus on the groin/thigh area).
