To set up a round robin of sixteen teams write the numbers down in two columns. The first column starts witth number one at the top and ends with number eight at the bottom. The second column starts with number nine at the bottom and ends with number sixteen at the top. Then for the following weeks keep number one stationary and rotate every other number counter clockwise as shown in the example that follows. The pairs across from each other are opponents. This system works for any even number combination and it will take one less week than number of players to complete. For sixteen team it will take 15 weeks. You can have the sixteenth or final week as "a challenge week." Have the top ranked team play the second ranked team, the third place team play the fourth place team, etc. See the charts below. Week One Week Two Week Three Week Four Week Five Week Six Etc. 1 vs 16 1 vs 15 1 vs 14 1 vs 13 1 vs 12 1 vs 11 2 vs 15 16 vs 14 15 vs 13 14 vs 12 13 vs 11 12 vs 10 3 vs 14 2 vs 13 16 vs 12 15 vs 11 14 vs 10 13 vs 9 4 vs 13 3 vs 12 2 vs 11 16 vs 10 15 vs 9 14 vs 8 5 vs 12 4 vs 11 3 vs 10 2 vs 9 16 vs 8 15 vs 7 6 vs 11 5 vs 10 4 vs 9 3 vs 8 2 vs 7 16 vs 6 7 vs 10 6 vs 9 5 vs 8 4 vs 7 3 vs 6 2 vs 5 8 vs 9 7 vs 8 6 vs 7 5 vs 6 4 vs 5 3 vs 4 If you have an odd number of participants, one person or team does not play each week. You can rotate them as shown below in the example of five teams. With one team having a bye each week, you will need as many weeks as you have players to complete the rotations. You can also add a "Bye" as the first player and rotate them as explained for an even number of participants. Week 1 Week 2 Week 3 Week 4 Week 5 1 5 4 3 2 2 vs 5 1 vs 4 5 vs 3 4 vs 2 3 vs 1 3 vs 4 2 vs 3 1 vs 2 5 vs 1 4 vs 5 Good luck!

Why did the NFL schedule the 1989 Packers play Dallas twice?

There were only 28 teams in the NFL in 1989. Each conference had two divisions with 5 teams and one division with 4 teams. The way the schedules worked that year, the teams that finished in last place in the conference's two divisions that had five teams in 1988 wound up playing each other twice in 1989. So Dallas and Green Bay, who were last place teams in 1988, wound up playing twice in 1989. Also, in the American Conference, the Miami Dolphins and Kansas City, who were last place teams in 1988, wound up playing twice in the 1989 season.

How do you make an odd number teams softball schedule?

Each team plays each other twice, once home, and once away. This gives each team an even number of games, equal the number of teams minus one, twice. Equation: T=number of teams G=number of games C=number of times playing each team If there are seven teams, and you want each team to play one another twice: (T-1)*C=G (T-1)*2=G (7-1)*2=G 6*2=G 12=G, so each team in a seven team league plays each other team twice, hence 12 games for each team. If you want to play each team three times, four times, etc, the equation works the same.

How do you make a 6 team 5 week schedule?

You'll need to give one of the teams a "bye" each week. You shouldn't need six weeks to have five teams face each other, though, you should be able to do it in five (each team has to face four others, plus the bye week).

Why did they go to 162 games in Major League Baseball?

Both the American League and National League went to a 162 game schedule from a 154 game schedule when they expanded from 8 teams to 10 teams (AL in 1961, NL in 1962). This was done so each team could play the other 9 teams the same number of games. When the AL and NL were 8 team leagues, the teams played 22 games against each other in a season (154 divided by 7 equals 22). By adding 2 teams, if the AL and NL played 154 games in a season, there would be teams playing more games against one team than another team (154 divided by 9 equals 17.111). Going to a 162 game schedule meant the teams could play each other 18 times in a season (162 divided by 9 equals 18).
