The sensor is easily accessible from under the car. It is attached to the left side of the transmission pan with 2 screws. The instructions on the autozone repair guide show the transmission selector lever attached to the front side of the sensor, but this was not the case with my car.
Start with the car properly supported with the parking brake on and the gear shift in neutral.
Check the new switch: There is a line on the main body labeled neutral that should line up with a short line on the inner ring of the sensor.
There are 2 metric bolts holding the sensor to the car, remove these.
Remove the electrical connector from the old switch.
Compare the width of the bolt guides from the old switch to the new. In my case, the new switch guides were thinner than the old and I had to space the switch off with a few lock washers.
Connect the new switch to the electrical connector.
Slide the switch over the selection cylinder.
Screw in and tighten both bolts.
Even with hunting down the washers, it only took me about 2 minutes.
