Best Answer

In a standard softball field, the distance from home plate to first base is 60 feet. To physically measure this distance, we use a long, windup tape measure.

Note: The distance between any of the bases is 60 feet.

From the tip of home plate to the far side or back of the 1st base bag.

computers use the trajectory of the baseballs flight path to determine where the ball would have landed if the seats had not been there and it would have landed on a level ground. They then measure the distance from where the ball would have landed on the ground from home plate
