League schedules can be found on the United States Bowling Congress' website at www.bowl.com. They have schedules for 4 to 48 teams.
Also, there is league software available on the market, such as CDE Software's Bowling League Secretary, that have the schedules built in.
In your case, you would use an 8 team schedule.
If yorue bowling multiple games you have two choices.
Either let the 5 bowlers play a full game and then sub them out, or sub in players mid-game if a player is struggling.
Depending on the amount of games and disregarding each players individual skill, Id say follow this guideline:
game 1: 1 2 3 4 5
game 2: 2 3 4 5 6
game 3: 3 4 5 6 7
game 4: 4 5 6 7 8
... and keep subbing in this fashion.
If you are using a league secretary software program, such as CDE Software's BLS league league secretary software, the schedule is set up for you automatically.
You can go to USBC's website and download the current schedules they have which include an 8 team schedule.
If all 6 bowlers were rotating evenly (or close to it):
Week 1 - bowler 1,2,3,4
Week 2 - bowler 2,3,4,5
Week 3 - bowler 3,4,5,6
Week 4 - bowler 4,5,6,1
Week 5 - bowler 5,6,1,2
Week 6 - bowler 6,1,2,3
Easiest is:
1,2,3,4,5 6&7 stay home
2,3,4,5,6 7&1 stay home
3,4,5,6,7 1&2 stay home
4,5,6,7,1 2&3 stay home
5,6,7,1,2 3&4 stay home
6,7,1,2,3 4&5 stay home
7,1,2,3,4 5&6 stay home
This allows a player to skip two weeks in a row. You could use as a base line if you wanted to have a player skip ever 3 or 4 weeks.
Usually the easiest method is to follow a simple pattern:
Repeat the pattern.
You simply alternate between the 5 players taking turns taking the night off.
Example.
