the easiest way to line up a scope is set a target 25 yards in front of you. get the gun stable and shoot. If you have it centered at 25 yards, do to 50 yards. Depending on the caliber, you will want to do this at 50 yard settings up to the distance you are comfortable shooting. Now, the only thing you want to change to line your scope is the horizontal, or windage. On most centerfire calibers, if you are dead-on at 25 yards, you will be very close to the same at 200 yards. The cartride will start rising after 25 and will fall backt to "about" the same at 200. The horizontal(windage) IS REALLY THE MOST IMPORTANT SETTING AFTER THE INITIAL 25 YARD SETTING.

∙ 12y agoThere are a couple of methods. The easiest is to take it to a gunshot and have them bore sight it. This will at least get to print on a target right off. The next part or way is to have a good solid rest where the weapon will not move even when your not holding it. Do not pinch the stock to the barrel this will cause the weapon to be in accurate when released. at about 25 yards place the cross-hairs on the center of the target and fire. The with the turret covers remove and the weapon still aimed at the center of the target move the cross-hairs to the hove you just put in it. Or at the same range move the cross-hairs based on the number of clicks to move the point of impact. The standard is normally 1 click = 1/4 in at 100 yards it will be marked on the scope. once you have it shooting accurate at close range then you can move the distance out and be fairly sure you will close for range. continue to adjust until it is accurate at the range you desire

Unobstructed View Stand in the fairway next to your ball with a clear view of the hole. Hold the Golf scope up to your eye. Line up the bottom of the flagstick with the horizontal line marked "Green" in your viewfinder. Read the numbers that are lined up with the top of the flagstick. That is your yardage. Select the golf club that corresponds with that distance and take your shot. Obstructed View If the base of the flag is obstructed and the course you are playing has striped flagsticks, line up the bottom line in the golf scope with the lowest visible stripe of the flagstick. Find the number lined up with the top of the flagstick. Multiply the number of stripes you can see on the flag by the number lined up with the topic of the flagstick. Then divide by eight. As an example, if the number of stripes you see is five, and the distance you measured in the golf scope was 140 yards, the distance is 87.5 yards. Tips If your course does not have striped flagsticks and you can't see the base of the pin, the golf scope will not be accurate. Most golf scopes measure in yards and meters. Clean your golf scope with a clean, damp cloth after each round. Blow out any visible dust before you wipe it down.

the model 36 marlin was not drilled and tapped for scopes as it left the factory.I know because I have two of them.Your rifle may have been done by a previous owner as it was common to have a scope on a rifle during the last 50 yrs. You may by a model 336 base,be it 2 piece or one and see if the holes line up or have a qualified gunsmith inspect it and have him match up the mounting holes to a scope base.
