First, get the owner's manual for your pistol. Most are available at no charge from the maker of the pistol.
Check that your pistol is unloaded. Then check it again.
After checking that it IS unloaded, use a cleaning rod and patch holder to push a cleaning patch wet with gun cleaning solvent through the barrel. Let set for a few minutes. Then use the rod and a bore brush to scrub the bore. Then put the patch holder on the rod, and push a clean dry patch through the bore. Follow with a lightly oiled patch, and wipe down the exterior with a lightly oiled cloth.
Try soaking it in coca-cola!
To clean a Ruger .22 Long Rifle auto pistol, first ensure the firearm is unloaded and safe. Disassemble the pistol according to the manufacturer’s instructions, typically removing the slide and barrel. Use a cleaning rod and patches soaked in a suitable gun cleaning solvent to clean the barrel, and a brush to scrub any fouling. Wipe down the frame and parts with a cloth, lubricate moving parts lightly, and reassemble the pistol once everything is clean and dry.

Disassemble the pistol according to the manufacturer's instructions, typically including removing the slide and barrel. Which pistol? Most production pistols have a barrel length of 1 to 8 inches.
From mouth of barrel to where it meets the cylinder.
The Marksman doesn't require much cleaning. I suggest you purchase Crosman pellgun oil and put some on a cloth and wipe down the pistol. Open the breech (Barrel) put a drop of oil on a q-tip and run it through the barrel. Do this until the Q-tip is clean. DO NOT use any firearms cleaning agents on the pistol or it will ruin the seals in the gun.
Read the manual and follow the instructions. For the bore of the barrel, I would recommend using a BoreSnake.
