If you've not played the professional game then a good start would be to turn to the FA's coaching courses. There are several levels of coaching qualifications available but experience is also essential. You could try applying to local teams and trying to start off small with local community teams before trying to build up more qualifications and more experience at higher levels. Either way, it's not a simple step into Football Management, but the key really would seem to be to build an impressive CV with not just the qualifications, but experience as well.

Point of note: Garry Megson was out of a job for a while after Forrest got relegated, but he went and did some voluntary work Behind the Scenes at Stoke before being taken on by Leicester and then Bolton, so volunteering could also be a solution for gaining experience.

Adam Federici, Reading Goalkeeper, came to the UK with his passport, goalies gloves and clothes, sent letters out to clubs accross the land looking for trials and was taken on by Reading in the end. Could be worthwhile writing to many clubs as well if you're keen.

Whatever you choose to do, best of luck for it.
