there should be a metal tag on the frame (usually around the head tube) and the year should be on the tag
Dude i do Motocross just look right where your handlebars are and there will be a black sticker on your pivot mount saying what model and year.
The VIN number, the 10th digit is the year. 1980-A, 1981-B, 1982-C, 1983-D, 1984-E, 1985-F, 1986-G, 1987-H, 1988-J, 1989-K, 1990-L, 1991-M, 1992-N, 1993-P, 1994-R, 1995-S, 1996-T, 1997-V, 1998-W, 1999-X, 2000-Y, 2001-1, 2002-2, 2003-3, 2004-4, 2005-5, 2006-6, 2007-7, 2008-8, 2009-9, 2010-A and it starts over again along the same lines.

Write down the 17 digit vin number that is stamped on the right side of your head tube. (or count down to the 10th digit) The 10th digit is the year code. Tenth digit year code breakdown: 80(A), 81(B), 82(C), 83(D), 84(E), 85(F), 86(G), 87(H), 88(J), 89(K), 90(L), 91(M), 92(N), 93(P), 94(R), 95(S), 96(T), 97(V), 98(W), 99(X), 00(Y), 01(1), 02(2), 03(3), 04(4), 05(5), 06(6), 07(7), 08(8 ), 09(9) ( Don't know what happens after 09 )
