Some time in the early 1920's, BSA & I think Moto-Guzzi started this ride known then as a scramble, very similar to what we know now here in Canada as a "Hair-Scramble" which consists of a course made partly of a motocross track and forest or trail (Enduro) ride. However, nothing similar to now.
It is actually called the motocross of nations now. Look it up on the internet. They do have a movie called 60 years and a day about the 2008 motocross of nations.
