The creator of the Miami Dolphins was a very religious man, and in his religion- Crasintius- the was belief that humans started as dolphins, and that when anyone died, they would turn back into a dolphin. His great Aunt (who he was very close to) had died recently and her passion was American Football, so he named the team the Dolphins in her honor :)
