They lose to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series. 1979: Have a promotion called 'Disco Demolition Night'. Fans can bring their unwanted disco records to the gate and exchange them for a reduced ticket price. The records were collected and blown up in between games of a double header. The explosion created a hole in the outfield and started a rush of thousands of fans onto the field. 39 arrests were made for disorderly conduct. Police could not restore order and the White Sox were made to forfeit the second game. 2005: Win the American League pennant for the first time since 1959 and defeat the Houston Astros in the World Series.
