Relegated (moved to a lower league)
Enyimba
Verb Consign or dismiss to an inferior rank or position. Synonyms banish - exile - deport
Relegation is when a team loses its position in a particular league division and is moved to a lower one. For example a team that does badly in the season will end up being relegated to an easier league, because they will have a low number of points at the end of the season. Depending on the league structure, several teams will get relegated each year, and other teams that have finished at the top of their division will be promoted. So, in a typical example, the three bottom teams in Division 1 might be relegated to Division 2 and the three top teams in Division 2 will be promoted to Division 1. So each division will retain the same amount of teams. There may be lots of divisions, so teams could be relegated between Division 2 and Division 3 and so on. Sometimes teams may be automatically promoted if they finish top, and teams that are close to the top may have a play-off to get other places for promotion. There are different systems.
There are 20 teams in the Premier League, 24 teams in the Championship, 24 in League one and 24 in League two. There are 92 English league teams but There are other teams who are in leagues lower such as blue square premier league

I would guess about 1 out of 40 football, basketball and baseball players from division one colleges are offered professional contracts at some level perhaps in Europe. Most of them have very short pro careers. Players in lower division and other sports almost never become pros.
Lower division coursework refers to courses that are designed for a freshman or sophomore at a four year institution of higher learning. Lower division coursework often consists of core courses that are designed to provide a foundation of knowledge and processes upon which future, more specific, courses may build. Due to the high rate of attrition and the less specific nature of many lower division courses, they often contain significantly higher numbers of students than upper division courses do. Upper division courses are much more narrow in scope and contain quite a bit more specific information. They are typically reserved for students with a Junior or Senior standing. Students in upper division courses can be expected to do more writing than those in lower division courses. Group work and projects are also much more likely in upper division coursework.
