The best way to avoid a sweaty back from your pack is to get one that has an external frame. The frame will keep the actual pack off of your back. But even with an external frame pack there is usually a part of webbing that helps keep the hard frame off of your back. It may not totally cure the wet back but an exterrnal frame will help. I personally like a backpack with an external frame. You can tie more gear onto the outside and it helps to maintain shape which keeps your load from shifting. There are also types of backpacks that you can get that have that wicking material that allows for your back to breathe.
