Through the 2009 season, there are 3 players in the 3000 Club that are not in the Hall of Fame:
1) Pete Rose, 4256 hits - Rose was barred for gambling on games in 1989 and it is a very long shot that he will ever be elected to the Hall.
2) Craig Biggio, 3060 hits - Biggio retired after the 2007 season and still has 3 years to go to meet the 5 year retirement eligibility clause. He would seem to be a lock for the Hall.
3) Rafael Palmeiro, 3020 hits - Palmeiro's final season was 2005 and he is now eligible to be elected beginning in 2011. However, his steroid use has tarnished his accomplishments and it is highly doubtful he will ever be elected to the Hall.
