I'm going to guess you meant Fort Dodge, which is 100 miles west of Waterloo on Route 20. Dubuque is 91 miles east, about ten minutes less. Dubuque has other advantages: It's on the river and if you're commuting, traveling west in the morning and east in the evening keeps the sun out of your eyes.
