Certain styles of karate and kung fu, (Examples of traditional Martial Arts) might not be as effective or as good in a fight as practical martial arts, but they still develop strength, speed, power, co-ordination, balance and inner peace. If you are looking for traditional martial arts i would recommend Shotokan karate, Wing Chun or Aikido. The most practical (street fighting) system of Kung Fu is Wing Chun. It concentrates on short effective movements and develops extreme speed and power. So some traditional martial arts do work in a real fight!
