How long can a goalkeeper keep the ball in his hands?

A goalie can use their hands to touch or pick up the ball when the ball is within their penalty area, they havenโ€™t received it directly from a back pass or throw-in from a member of their own team, and they havenโ€™t just dropped the ball from their hands. Sure, when the referee calls for a kick off or goal kick or something, the goalie should obey their command and do whatever needed with the ball.

An overview of soccer?

Soccer is a sport where there is a large rectangular field with netted goals on each end of the field. The point of the game is to try to make the soccer ball go in the opposing teams net. You have to keep the ball in bounds. If your team kicks the ball out of bounds, the opposing team throws the ball in with two hands over the head, making sure to keep their feet on the ground. You must only use your feet in this game, except for throw-ins. Also, the goalie can pick the ball up when the ball is in the area marked off that is close to the goal. The goalie must try to not allow the ball to make it into the net. If a goal is scored, the opposing team scores one point. If someone uses their hands on the field and they are not the goalie, there is a penalty called. When this happens, the ball is placed on the ground from which the foul occurred and the opposite kicks the ball. That is a basic overview of soccer!!! GOOD LUCK!!!!

Can a goalie pick up the ball if threw in by his teamate?

What can a goalie do during a soccer game?

I'm one of the best people to help answer that, since I've been a goalie for years. Goalies, as you probably know already, defend the goal. They are the only players that are allowed to block the ball with their hands. They must stay inside their penalty box. Here's a cool thing we can do: Goalies CAN step outside their box, but cannot touch the ball with their hands. They may kick the ball into the penalty box and then pick it up and throw/kick it back down the field. Hope this helps!

What where the rules of soccer?

No using your hand(unless your the goalie) No pushing with your hands, but you can shoulder people. you have to stay in bounds(the white lines) and if your team kicks it out then the other team gets the throw-in You can't pass the ball back to your goalie and have her/him pick it up, but the goalie can kick it you can only slidetackle if your A: going for the ball and B:your toes are pointed. You can't be offsides You cant be offsides in a through-in Hands behind your head and feet STAY on the ground during a throw-in The goalie CAN come out of the box but they cant pick up the ball If the ball is kicked inside the goal box and goes out of bounds its a goal kick, if the ball is kicked out of bounds but OUTSIDE of the goal box it is a corner kick. During a penalty kick/free kick you must stay 10-15 yards away from the ball during a kick off the ball must be kicked in front of the line (this isnt all of the rules)

How is estimation used in soccer?

Estimation is used because you sometimes need to estimate what way the ball is going to travel. When you get to high level soccer, the goalie sometimes has to just pick a side and dive there because it's really hard to antisipate where the player is going to shoot it.

Can the goal keeper pick up the ball with his hands if his feet are inside the area but the ball on the ground is not?

When the goalie receives the ball from his own players can he pick it up?

No. If the last player to touch the ball was a member of the same team as the goalie, s/he can only handle it like any other player (use chest, legs, head, etc.). The goalie can also not pick up the ball anywhere outside the 18-yard box. Goalies can be involved in attacking elements of a game, but outside their own box they have to behave as any other player. For instance, if a goalie goes to the other team's box to be a part of a corner kick, s/he could only head or kick the ball in, not punch it in or in anyway touch it with his or her hands. Obviously, having a goalie leave their own box is risky, especially since many goalies are uncomfortable playing the ball with their feet (at least compared to outfield players).

In soccer can a goalkeeper kick the ball from outside and pick it up by hands?

It depends on how the goalkeeper received it. If the goalkeeper received it from a deliberate kick or a throw-in by a team-mate, then no. Otherwise, yes.
