Sumo Wrestling and judo are two very different sports. While there are similarities, particularly in that one of the objects is to get your opponent on the ground, they have distinctly different rules and training regimes.
Judo throws have some similarities with Greco Roman wrestling throws. Judo moves somewhat resemble a combination of Greco Roman wrestling and Jiu-jitsu. However, Judo techniques are far more comprehensive than wrestling. Judo has it's roots from Jiu-jitsu, not wrestling.
Judo and wrestling are both Martial Arts, but Judo is not normally considered to be a form of wrestling, despite some similarities. In terms of classification, Judo is a Japanese martial art.
Both judo and wrestling are grappling martial arts, which prohibit striking the opponent. There are numerous parallels between winning strategies and tactics.
