The commercial vessel has right of way if conducting fishing or trawling operations. When not fishing or trawling, right of way is awarded as with two power boats.

What is a sailboat the stand on vessel in relations to a recreational power boat?

The question should be "When is the sailboat the stand-on vessel...? The answer is if the sailboat has an engine and if it is in operation, the sailboat is treated as a power boat in determining stand-on status. The right-of-way would then follow the rules for power boats.

What color light does commercial vessel use at night?

All vessels at sea use a red light on the port side (left facing forward to front of vessel), and a green light on the starboard side (right).

When is the only time a sailing vessel gives way to a power-driven vessel?

In Australia, sailing boats only have to give way to commercial boats. When collision is imminent. Exercising your "right of way" can be detrimental to your lives and crafts.

When does a sailboat have the right away over a recreation vesel?

== There are too many variables to give a short answer, but generally speaking... a sailboat has the right of way over a powered recreational vessel when the sailboat is operating under the sail's power only. In other words, even if the sail is up, if the sailboat's engine is running and the propeller is engaged, it is considered a powered vessel.

When power driven vessels are crossing at right angles what should the vessel on the right do?

If they are BOTH power driven vessels, the vessel to "right" (Starboard) would be the "stand on" vessel, maintaining course and speed. The Vessel on the "left" (Port) is the "give way" vessel and will have to (if) possible avoid crossing in front of the stand on vessel. Please refer to the link below. Rule 15

What are the duties of a vessel towards another vessel in a collision?

Starboard, turn right!!!

You are operating a power boat at night. You see red and white lights on another boat. What should you do?

Depends on the configuration of the lights. Where are they at on the vessel. There are many different situations where you could see red and white lights, such as: pilot boat, fishing vessel, engaged in fishing, restricted in ability to maneuver and so on. The most likely answer to this question is a white masthead light with an arc of 225 degrees and port side running light with an arc of 112.5 degrees. In most situations you will be the "give-way" vessel and will NOT have the right of way.

When is a sailboat under sail the give way vessel when encountering a power driven vessel?

A sailboat under sale usually has the right of way over a power driven vessel. The exception is when the powered fishing boat or large commercial vessel is in a restricted channel area. In this instance, the sailboat would need to yield.

What happened to the rate as the right vessel radius was increased?

Physio Ex Answer: When the right vessel radius was increased the flow rate increases.

What factor determines what a vessel operator does when encountering another vessel?

Size is one factor determining right of way, with the smaller vessel given right to the route they have taken. The larger vessel would obviously need to be vigilant to the sudden appearance of smaller craft.

What vessel must all vessel giveway to?
