Depends on the model...
The 2002 Nissan Maxima runs on premium unleaded (required).
According to the link below these four cars require premium unleaded fuel.
I wouldn't recomend it but it can be done... There are additives you can add to the fuel tank when filling with unleaded gasoline. Your local auto parts store will have what you need.
Premium Leaded Gasoline. If you run unleaded gas the valves will eventually wear out because the lead was a lubricant. The valves would need to be retrofitted to sodium filled or some other type that can survive without the lead.
Yes. Though you didn't mention what year model. Usually it's stamped on the fuel door of what is recommended for your car. Typically if it is a low compression, 8 to 9:1 low to mid grade unleaded is all you need and high octane or premium isn't necessary. Premium is necessary for high compression engines, typically in BMWs and Mercedes, that are usually 10 to 11:1. And it is stamped on the fuel door. If anything less you risk bad detonation or "pinging". Which would cause left deposits and engine deterioration. Needless to say you could run premium, if it's not recommended, though it would be a waste of money at the pump.
" Premium " unleaded , 91 octane or higher ( according to the Owner Guide )
Yes. All Unleaded Gasoline Mercedes Benz vehicles require Premium (91 Octane and above) Gasoline. Do not use anything other than Premium Gasoline. Lower grade gasoline can harm the engine.
According to the 2002 Lincoln Continental Owner Guide : ( " premium " unleaded , 91 octane or higher is used )
Yes In a modern car changing from regular to premium is no problem It may have been costing you power and fuel mileage to run regular, but if your car does not need premium it is a waste of money. On older cars running regular may damage the engine, but we are talking cars built in the 1980s or older.
91 octane at sunoco (low premium) bring a calculator and estimate how many gallons you need. It will work. You will have to walk in and pay in cash.
Use exactly what Acura recommends and nothing else. If it does not say use premium unleaded on the fuel door and in the owners manual then use regular. The use of premium is a total waste of money if that is not what Acura recommends.
