No, example some kids are drafted out of high school but the team send them to different leagues to work on their overall game and to gain experience. but you can go to Canadian leagues and try out and if made the team you can make your way up to bigger Canadian leagues such as OHL or WHL once thier you would have a good chance of being noticed by NHL scouts
