Rugby, both Union and League are high level contact sports. There are occasions when players will have a "heavy debate" mid game. As a general rule even when tempers flair on the pitch issues are forgotten when the game is over.

As an old saying goes - Rugby is a thugs game played by gentlemen!

However, there are procedures in place to "capture" violent and dangerous play. In the event that a formal complaint is made by either side OR by an official the player concerned is brought up in front of a disciplinary committee to answer allegation of such play. There have been players banned for weeks to lifetime for this type of play.

NOTE: Rugby is one of the few or perhaps only sports where the referee is called "Sir" or Madam by the players as dissension against a referee is highly frowned upon
