The current NBA rule is that you must be 19 years old to play in the NBA or have one year of college experience. A few high school players are preferring to go overseas and play in Europe until they are 19 rather than go to college.

It used to be that you could get drafted out of High School, such as players like Al Jefferson, LeBron James, and Kobe Bryant, a few of the many. But now the NBA has a new rule that all players must have atleast (1) year of college.

No, but according to the Collective Bargaining Agreement the NBA works under, the minimum age for entry into the NBA is 19. Additionally, you must have been out of high school for at least one year before you are eligible for the NBA draft.

Technically, if you play Basketball at any point you are a basketball player. Since you can play in a driveway or a local court, a college education is not required. If you meant professionally, the answer is no. Your ability to perform well in academia has nothing to do with your ability to play ball. Kobe Bryant is the best example I can think of for an NBA player that didn't go to college.
