Three executive orders issued by Obama are in relevance to the topic of gun safety. These are addressing unnecessary legal barriers, reviewing safety standards for gun safes, and prosecuting crimes related to guns.
Double Action pistols may not HAVE a manual safety. Like a double action revolver, the trigger must move through a long and deliberate arc for the gun to fire. Not all guns have had a safety.
yes thay do Actually, it depends on what you mean. Almost all modern guns have internal safety mechanisms that keep the gun from firing unless the trigger is pulled, but most modern handguns and some modern long guns don't have external, manually operated safeties that you must deactivate before you can pull the trigger. However, SOME modern guns do. The reason I say that is because, most people, when they say "safety" are referring to a external, manual operated safety like the 1911 has.

Members of the Army, if they wish to buy guns, have to buy different guns than what they're issued, since the ones they're issued aren't available on the civil market (being in the military doesn't permit you to buy firearms which Joe Citizen can't buy). However, you can only use the ones you're issued in an operational capacity. You can't buy your own sidearm and deploy with it instead of what you're issued.
1952 was the first year that FN made Brownings with the cross bolt safety as standard. I have seen a few guns made in 51 with the cross bolt and I have seen at least one 1952 gun with a front trigger safety. Many of the older guns were converted by Browning to switch the front trigger safety to crossbolt. You can tell this if there is a slot in the front of the trigger guard. If the customer paid, he could have a new trigger guard installed along with the conversion, thus it is not possible to date a gun by the safety alone. FN continued the front trigger on their guns that they sold worldwide until the early 60's. These were not Browning Arms Co. guns
They've been found to be more effective than the previous 9mm guns issued.
