Do black belts need to be classified as a lethal weapon because i am a black belt 8th dan and it said on my license that i am a lethal weapon?

Anyone who is a legitimate 8th Dan in any genuine Martial Art system has been training for at least 30 or 40 years, and knows the answer to this type of question.

Also, it is not likely that any legitimate "license" or rank certificate of Black Belt Degree has the wording that the person is a "lethal weapon." If that were written on a certificate, I would question the source and credibility of whomever issued it, but then an 8th Dan should already know the validity of their teacher's certificates.

The question of registering as a "lethal weapon" is one of legal jurisdiction wherever the student lives, but I know of no laws requiring such registration. In the olden days, in America, many professional boxers, and wrestlers wanted to avoid unnecessary fights with bar room drunks, and thugs, so they would say "I can't fight you because my hands are registered as a lethal weapon, and I would go to jail if I hurt you." In order to back up this claim, many of the athletes would get their local sheriff's department to issue a made-up document that said they were registered as a "Lethal Weapon," but there was no legal requirement to do so. After professional fighters started using that statement, every punk kid, and martial art wannabe began using that same line to boast about their non-existent skills.

In reality, the laws of assault and battery, and self defense apply the same for everyone. If you want to verify such requirements, contact your local police department, or consult with an attorney about the laws where you live.
