In all probability, Japanese Naval pilots didn't carry "tape-recorders" in their cockpits while flying their missions. This wasn't the "jet age" (or Space Age, Atomic Age, or Computer Age) with high technology. So what those airmen said to themselves or their fellow crewmen during the aerial attack is anybody's choice to state. However, men in combat say an incredible amount of NON-Politically Correct statements when in the heat of battle. And the "...hell with Babe Ruth..." statement would certainly be a more humorous thing to say; and quite possible, as it was a world wide known fact (in the 1930's/1940's) that men in the US preferred "Baseball/Football" over war any day! It seems that that remark would be very possible.

Who was all in on the attack on Pearl Harbor?

Japanese pilots from the Zuikaku and Shōkaku aircraft carriers are the pilots who bombed Pearl Harbor. There were also six mini submarines that were sent to attack the ships but they were not very successful.

How did the attack on Pearl Harbor affect the US socially?

As a woman commented during the burying of dead Japanese pilots near Pearl Harbor, just after the attack, "...they were some mother's sons."

Why did the Japanese not tell their pilots who their target was before the attack of pearl harbor?

The airmen knew their targets. They had to study them.

Was the attack on Pearl Harbor a suicide mission?

No, it was not a suicide mission, but it was a surprise attack. The Japanese launched aircraft from six Aircraft Carriers, the planes that survived the attack returned to their carriers. The Japanese only lost 29 aircraft, 4 midget submarines and only had 65 soldiers killed or wounded in the attack. This was out of a total of 353 Japanese aircraft invoved in the attack. The attack on Pearl Harbor was December 7th 1941, and Kamakaze pilots were not used until 1944.

Why were so many people fearful of Japanese Americans especially along the West Coast?

= they were suspected of being secret Japanese spies Because the Japanese had spies operating on the West Coast making reports on American shipping movements including the location and departure of American war ships. Plus on the day of the Pearl Harbor attack (December 7 1941) Japanese Americans in Hawaii assisted downed Japanese navy pilots that had attacked Pearl Harbor.

During WW2 the Japanese military code meant that it was an honor to die for your country. This was why Japanese pilots or Kamikaze pilots were willing to commit suicide by a military air attack.

Both

Were an Japanese flyers taken prisoner at Pearl harbor attack?

No pilots were captured but a submariner from one of the 2 man subs was captured on a neighboring island. Day of Infamy - Walter Lord

Were any downed Japanese airmen captured and taken prisoner at Pearl Harbor?

I don't remember reading that any airmen were taken captive but one of the mini subs was captured on a neighboring island. There is a picture showing the men who piloted the subs in and around Pearl Harbor - all of those men are pictured except the man taken captive. He dishonored the Japanese therefore he lost his position in Japanese history.

What were the names of the only two navy pilots who successfully got off the ground during the Pearl Harbor attack to fight the Japanese attackers?

What you may be referring to are Lts. Kenneth A. Taylor & George S. Welch, the only two US ARMY AIR FORCE pilots to shoot down Japanese aircraft on Dec. 7, 1941. However, there were other A.A.F. pilots that were able to sortie on that day. Richard V. Horrell WW 2 Connections.com
