Don Drysdale of the 1962 Los Angeles Dodgers. The Yankees and Giants played in the 1962 World Series with the Yankees winning, 4 games to 3.
To settle the "question" of which major league baseball team is the best. It's the same reason there are playoffs in all major sports.
Willie Mays Aikens of the Kansas City Royals did it in the 1980 World Series. Chase Utley of the Philadelphia Phillies duplicated the feat in the 2009 Series.
Pumpkins have to do with the World Series, because the world series is played around the same time Halloween is.
Platooning is when a team uses two different players at the same position and usually alternate series or games depending on production.
American Professional Baseball is made up into 2 divisions or leagues. After a season of play and a couple of weeks of playoffs the 2 leagues, the American and National send their champions to the World Series. Although called the World Series there are only American teams participating. The recent World baseball classic showed American baseball is not the only dominate team around.
Red Sox and Yankees are in the same league (American) and so they can not meet in the World Series since the World Series is played between the winners of the American League and National League of the Major Baseball League
As a player, that is Yogi Berra of the New York Yankees with 10.
Yes, Brooks made it to Cooperstown in 1983, the same year the O's won the World Series.
No, the World Series pits one team from each league. It is possible for two teams from the same division to play in each league's Championship Series but not in the World Series.
My Uncle from St. Louis caught a foul ball from the 1982 World Series. His baseball has the 1982 World Series stamp on the baseball with a star stamp above the Rawlings logo. The 1982 World Series baseball is typically sold for more than other World Series baseballs. The 1982 World Series baseball could easily fetch up to $100 on eBay. I have not seen the stamp used on other game used World Series baseballs around that era. This is a very unique ball. IMO the value is easily over twice that of a non game used 1982 World Series baseball. Other 80's World Series baseballs would be hard to determine if they are actually game used. Since, the 1982 World Series had used a special stamp; these balls are easy to verify. Unless someone makes the star stamp the same size and stamped it to look similar. But, this would be costly to make a fake. Anyway, in my professional opinion, the baseball should sell for $250-$500.
