No team has ever played a Super Bowl in its home stadium, although there are a couple of instances in which clubs played near their neighborhoods. In Super Bowl XIV, the Los Angeles Rams, who played their home games in Anaheim Stadium, clashed with the Pittsburgh Steelers at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. In Super Bowl XIX, the San Francisco 49ers, whose home turf was Candlestick Park, played the Miami Dolphins at Stanford Stadium in Palo Alto, California.

Was a Super Bowl ever played in the astrodome?

No. Two Super Bowls have been played in Houston ... Super Bowl VIII at Rice Stadium and Super Bowl XXXVIII at Reliant Stadium. The Astrodome was simply deemed "too small" for the Super Bowl, even in the early years.

Any team won Super Bowl in own stadium while hosting?

Super Bowl XIV was played by the Pittsburgh Steelers and the L.A. Rams at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. Largest turnout in a Super Bowl ever. That should count for home field advantage.

Did a professional football team ever play in Stanford Stadium?

Has Philadelphia ever won the Super Bowl?

The next Super Bowl to be hosted by New Orleans is SB XLVII, slated to be played in the Superdome on February 3, 2013. It will be the 10th SB played in New Orleans; the 7th in the Superdome (the most of any NFL stadium).

What home team won the Super Bowl?

No team has ever played the Super Bowl in their home stadium. The closest have been the San Francisco 49ers who played Super Bowl XIX in Stanford Stadium, rather than Candlestick Park, and the Los Angeles Rams who played Super Bowl XIV in the Rose Bowl, rather than the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

Was the super bowl ever played in Arlington Texas in the past?

Prior to Super Bowl XLV in February, 2011, there was no football stadium in Arlington, Texas. The Dallas Cowboys completed the new "Cowboys Stadium" in 2009 to replace the aging Texas Stadium in Irving, Texas, which had been built in 1971 and was torn down in 2010. The Dallas area had never hosted a Super Bowl.

Is it possible for the Cowboy's to play at home in the Super Bowl next year?

Yes. Super Bowls are awarded four years in advance, therefore, it is impossible to know who will be playing in the game. Should the Cowboys make it to Super Bowl XLV, they will play the game at their home stadium. In a similar vein, Super Bowl XLVI will be played at Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the Indianapolis Colts, and Super Bowl XLVII will be played at the Superdome, home of the New Orleans Saints. Should the Colts make it to Super Bowl XLVI or the Saints make it to Super Bowl XLVII, they will play the game at their home stadium. Through Super Bowl XLIV, no team has played the Super Bowl game at their home stadium. The closest to that ever happening was the 1984 San Francisco 49ers playing in Superbowl XIX. The game was held in Stanford Stadium, Palo Alto, California, which is only about 20 miles from San Francisco.

Has the city of Phoenix ever hosted a Super Bowl?

Phoenix has indirectly hosted two Super Bowls: Super Bowl XXX (30) was played at Sun Devil stadium in Tempe and was at the time the home of the Phoenix Cardinals. The most recent was Super Bowl XLII (42) played at University of Phoenix stadium in Glendale, a suburb of Phoenix. In both cases the Phoenix/Arizona Cardinals were considered the host team for the game.

Was a Super Bowl played in Texas?

The February 6 NFL title game will be the first-ever Super Bowl played in Dallas. One of the reasons that Dallas owner Jerry Jones built the mega-sized, all-weather Cowboys Stadium was to secure a Super Bowl for the Metroplex.

Since Super Bowl XLV is scheduled to play at Cowboys Stadium is it true that the Dallas Cowboys cannot play in Super Bowl XLV?

No - I don't think it's ever happened, but there's no rule or regulation that says a team who's home stadium is being used for the Super Bowl can't play in it if they win the NFC or AFC championship.

Where was the Super Bowl played when it rained?

Correct me if I am wrong, but while watching Super Bowl XLI between the Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Bears, I believe the annoucers said that it was the first time that a Super Bowl had ever been played in the rain (which was in Miami, Florida at Dolphins Stadium).
