Morgan was a member of the Oregon State University 2 mile relay team (4x880 yards) that set a world record of 7:18.2 in 1963.

He ran the 800 meters in the 1964 Summer Games in Tokyo. His personal best of 1:45.7 in the 800 was not a world record ... that was held by Peter Snell of New Zealand at 1:44.3 set in 1962.
