Hank's younger brother, Tommie, signed with the Braves in 1958 and played with Hank for 7 seasons (1962-1963, 1965, 1968-1971). Tommie played in 437 games and had a career batting average of .229 with 13 home runs.
Hank always thought Tommie would have had a great career had he not been with the Braves and always being compared with his brother. Tommie was diagnosed with leukemia in the early 1980s and passed away in 1984 at the age of 45.
