The core of a Baseball is a hard rubber bouncy ball.Depending on the company and cheapness of the ball, this rubber core can be the diameter of about a quarter to even the diameter of the bottom of a plastic water bottle. Although the more expensive and nicer baseballs like Rawlings etc. has the smaller rubber core. After the company has chosen the rubber core they wrap the rubber core with a large amount of a yarn type of material.The amount of this yarn used also depends on the type of core again.After this process is finished, they begin to wrap another layer of a fine white string/thread around the ball.After it gets to about the corrcet size, they add some sort of adhesive and attach the cowhide used on baseballs.Then they bind it together with the notorious red string.
