I would take the car back to the dealer anyways. And if you have a warranty then that will help out alot. My uncle bought a Dodge Neon and it was almost a year old and it had to have it's engine replaced and they put in a new one and did not charge him a penny! I am not for sure if he had a warranty or not on it. But most dealers will work with you. Good luck and God Bless:)
Your check engine light will not come on because your coolant needs to be changed. The only way to be totally sure why it is on you should get it checked with a computer at a dealer or service station. The check engine light may come on if it is over heating because there is no coolant in it but not if it just has to be changed.
its a belt and my dealer couldn't tell me when it needs to be changed, so off to another dealer who said its at 100,000miles but get the tension units changed.
Yes. And it has a timing belt that needs to be changed about every 90,000 miles or so.
More than likely it needs to be reset.
It probably means your transmission fluid needs to be changed. Take it a shop or dealer for diagnosis.
You cannot tell by looking at it. For this reason it must be changed at a set time period of miles or years. Without knowing the make, model, engine, & year I cannot tell you when it should be changed. Warning: If the engine is an interference engine and the belt breaks you will have internal engine damage.
It should be changed every 60,000 miles. I am not sure if it is an interference engine or not.
Timing chains usually do not need to be changed until an engine needs to be overhauled. You may need to change it if it makes a weird noise, other than that you should be fine.
When you changed the column, you may have changed the key. The key maybe chipped and needs to be reset at the dealer. About $120 plus the tow.
No the engine is not ruined. It needs a new head gasket and an oil change after the gasket been changed.
I am not 100% sure but that engine is timed via a chain which never needs to be changed.
No an overheating engine will be due to leaking coolant, a faulty radiator, a faulty water pump, lack of oil or oil that needs to be changed
