Practice is the noun. Practise is the verb. "I have to leave my law practice for a couple of days to practise for the baseball tournament."
Basically the players need to book a slot and can go out by themselves or they can have a few partners (who are also playing the event). They just go out and play the course to get a feel for it. They can hit as many balls as they want and practice to parts of the greens where they think the pin is going to be cut on, on each of the four tournament days. The players can also bring their swing coaches out to help them with their game. Practice days are good to watch because they show how the pro's prepare for big events but there is also a really good fun atmosphere as the players are much more relaxed.
Generally 72 - eighteen holes a day for four consecutive days.
It depends on the tournament. Normally there is one to two days of qualifying. Then a cut is made for match point play, which could last one to two days. Then finals.
