In batting, there is the potential of muscle injury and strains and aggravation of spinal osteoarthritis that often accompanies the scoliosis. Part of this problem is that at the extreme point of the twist, you are going to be hitting against the high speed ball. This will jar your spine at the same time that you are in the hyper-twisted position.

If your doctor gives the OK, just take it easy at first, warm up for days before you do any game exercise and don't do any one exercise or movement repeatedly or exclusively. Periodically switch it up and use other muscles. If you find that the twisting is causing a problem, get yourself a pinch hitter and play the other positions instead, or look for a sport that allows you to keep your spine out of twists.
