It all depends on what pool you swim in, how long you are in, how good your nail polish is, how long it has been on, how many coats of polish you have on, etc.
Let's say you are swimming in a chlorinated pool with so-so nail polish on. I would imagine chlorine would break down the polish more than a salt-pool would, but should still stay strong.
For example, one time I went swimming in a chlorinated pool and had a manicure done that day. The nail polish I was wearing wasn't one that a high end salon would use, but I would say it is about as good as Sally Hansen. When I got out of the pool, it was chipped only because I hit my nails against the concrete edge. I continually swam for the rest of the summer, and 3 weeks later the only damage done was the scrape from the concrete.
So, basically I would say it should be fine :) and enjoy your summer and don't worry about your nails! This will be your only 2011 summer, but not your only manicure!

∙ 11y agoif it is just a one time thing and not regularly then you'll be find, but if you go swimming every day then your nails will chip a lot and you'll have to get them redone.
