There are a number of factors to be considered. The legal status of an individual does not affect their ability to teach. It may affect their ability to obtain a business license and in some countries it may prevent them from being licensed to teach Martial Arts.

Many organizations will also not allow a felon to associate with their style and governing body, meaning they will be an independent without certification from a larger organization.
As long as there are no licensing restrictions against it. Typically, there is no registration required of instructors by a local or state authority.
