They should be universal.
There are actually one in the same. There was never an orginial "model 98" only the custom series. The difference though would be found in the Tippmann 98 custom Platinum series with its easy to remove body.
The best type of paintball for the 98 series is a mid grade paint (anything around 60 dollars like Diablo All Star). As for any gun, you don't want to just buy the cheapest paint possible (monster balls) because of the poor consistency and tendency to bounce after impact, but too high quality paint (easily breakable) in a Tippmann will chop a lot of paint.
The question is not which is better, but rather what your preferance is. The etrigger will allow you to adjust your rate of fir (ie. semi-auto, full auto, and 3 round burst). Where as the response trigger uses air to push the trigger forward after it has been pulled back. Therefore, in essence if you find the "sweet spot" you will have the trigger bounce of your finger and give you simulated full auto. The drawback is no control over the rate of fire. The advantage is that it has no electronics or batteries. So, again its your personal prefferance.
Yes all 98's are interchangeable no matter the model. But if you haven't taken apart a paintball gun before it could cause problems. When i was putting a new trigger in my 98 the second i lifted one half off about 3 springs shot off. I had to get my owners manual and look to see where all the springs went. Took about 15 minutes longer than it should have. But was worth it in the end.

There is also a difference in barrel sizes if im not mistaken but I think the newer 98 customs and platinums have the improved size (the same size as the A5)
The Tippmann 98 is not really comparable to the Angel series. The 98 was build as a cheap reliable marker, where the Angels were (a few years ago) the top of the line, fastest, lightest, and most advanced markers available.
Tippmann also makes the US Army Alpha series, so they are equal........ But the MR1 is not as widely respected at the Tippmanns are, most of that is due to the tough and durable nature of the Tippmann.
Any stock built for the Tippmann 98 series, including the project salvo, alpha black and the non Tippmann BT4. A5/x7 ans spyder mr stocks will not fit.
On the ends of every barrel there are "threads" These are different for every series of guns. The Salvo marker has Tippmann threads therefore any Tippmann barrels can be use. Smart Parts also makes barrels for Tippmann markers. Actually the Project Salvo is a Tippmann 98 with a different body. It uses Tippmann 98 threads and any barrels that fits the 98 will fit the Salvo. The Salvo can use a A5 barrel if you add a 'A5 to 98′ adapter to convert the threads to the 98 style for your Salvo.
You have to trade it from the gba series
The marker series most known for durability are Tippmann's. This is because they use very basic gun design techniques with very robust parts.
NO. Platinum will not react with lead(II) nitrate because platinum is BELOW lead in the activity series.
