Yes, but it is not advisable. Although the basic case is identical, to neck up the .30-30 will excessively thin the brass. In addition, it may be possible, since the headstamp will still say .30-30, to chamber the new round into a .30-30 particularly if the barrel is somewhat worn. The results of firing that round would not be pretty.

The .32 Win Spcl brass and loaded ammunition is available at a reasonable cost. Hornady has produced the 165gr .32 in their LEVERevolution brand and this is the best you can get for this rifle. The rounds have a rubber tip in a spitzer shape which greatly improves the aerodymanics and are safe to use in a tublar magazine. The ballistics of this round are superior to the flat nosed rounds. The drop of the flat nose bullet at 300 yards is approximately 35 inches while the drop of the LEVERevolution bullet is only about 12.5"!

I recently purchased a box of 20 LeverEvolution .32 Win Spcl from Gander Mountain for $25. Brass is availble from Graf's Shooting Supllies: http://www.grafs.com/. Their shipping is very reasonable.

In 2009 Hornady will make the FTX component bullets used in the LEVERevolution rounds available for handload use. Their preannouncement did list the .32 Win Spcl (.321") but the latest announcement did not. The price for the 165gr FTX in .308 (.30-30) is $37.45/100. I suspect that Graf's and other online retailers will have them for less.

Try Buffaloarms.com - they have the brass and may have loaded ammo. The only other place I've found wanted $9.75 for a single round. I may be getting one, but I cast my own bullets. If you want to do this go to Castboolits.gunloads.com and look around. There is a plethora of information, almost all of it reliable.
