the lat long values of survey of idia does nto amtch with the GPS as the value for gps are in the WGS84 geodetic ellipsoid whereas the survey of India maps are on the local ellipsoid that is the everst ellipsoid, we get the values of gps in wgs 84 as gps is new technology and survey of India was using the old method as all the maps were created keeping the everst ellipsoid in mind , after the lattest technology advancement now after gps ,nopw survey of India is changing all the maps depending upoon the wgs 84 ellipsoid.so that the coordinates supplied by the gps woudl match the values on the map sot hat the further updation can be done. on them without trnasformation. now the procedure is that wwhen we get the gps coordinates,now we need to transform the everst ellipsod coordiantes with the help of three things. 1.transformation 2.rotaion of the axes 3.scale factor
