The college baseball team with the best record in 2012 is Arizona. Their record is 48 wins, and 17 losses. Arizona defeated South Carolina 4 to 1, in Omaha, Nebraska.
In each league, the team with the best record normally plays the Wild Card team. The exception is that if the team with the best record and the Wild Card team are from the same division, then the team with the best record plays the division winner with the worst record.

The team with the best regular season record to lose was the 1906 Chicago Cubs who went 116-36 and lost the World Series to the Chicago White Sox.
That was the St. Louis Cardinals at 100-62. In the American League, the Chicago White Sox had the best regular season record at 99-63.
The team that has the best record or has the best season record.
The 1998 New York Yankees or the 1906 Chicago Cubs
In most cases, the division winner with the best overall season record plays the wildcard team and the other two division winners play each other. But, in the case where the wildcard team and the division winner with the best overall record come from the same division, the division winner with the second overall best record plays the wildcard team and the division winner with the best overall record plays the division winner with the third best overall record. Confusing? Kinda, and kinda not really fair either, but MLB does not want two teams from the same division playing each other in the first round of the playoffs.
That means that person has the best record for a specific sport at the Olympics. It is contrasted with the World Record, which is the fastest or best ever. It is entirely possible for them to be the same. The World record will always be better or the same as the Olympic Record.
