On the floor near each one, spray paint a different letter/symbol for wall switch, single/dual gang outlets, fixtures, any opening in the wall. After the dry wall goes up, you'll know where there are and abought what height. Then using a good hand-held metal detector or stud finder, you may be able to locate where the wires end. The above is great to help after-the-fact To prevent it though?? I don't experience this all that often, but you might try installing the device mounting screws ahead of time (just the screws not the device) and let the screws stick out about 1/2" . Some might call this a safety hazard though. If the box edge or adapter cover edge is properly mounted so that the edge of the box is no more than 1/4" back from the front face of the sheetrock (required by the NEC), then the sheetrocker would have a bulge if he didn't cut the hole properly

Q: As an Electrican I run into this problem in almost every home I wire Sheet rock hangers covering recepticle and swith boxes Does anyone have a good solution to help prevent this?
