No, you aren't a failure if you don't get first place in the Olympics. If you give up because you didn't, you are a failure. If you try until you get first place, you are not a failure.
You will be lucky if you even get into the Olympics
So basically, you are not a failure if you give up, if you get into something big like the Olympics, you are a winner.
