While there HAVE been smoothbore .22 LR firearms, they are rather rare- and are not used for shooting regular skeet. The shot they fire is too small. One of them- the Mossberg Targo- had what looked like a screw on choke- but is was actually a short section of rifled barrel to permit shooting regular .22LR lead bullets. Most shotguns used for skeet or trap will be 12 g. Visit any decent sized gun shop, and talk to the salespeople.
